The Story Beyond the Goals: Eden Hazard’s Football Journey

The Story Beyond the Goals: Eden Hazard’s Football Journey

I’m Eden Hazard, and if I had to sum up my career in one word, it would be: memories.
That’s what football gave me, and it’s what I cherish the most today. Not just the trophies or the goals, but the moments, the emotions, the connections. And especially, the photos. Photos tell stories you’ll never forget.

The other day, I was looking at this special ball we created with Club Legacyz and seeing the images on it brought everything back. There’s this photo of Thorgan and me—two brothers wearing the same jersey, living the same dream. That’s something unique.

“Playing for your country, with your brother—it’s something only a few can understand. It was pure happiness for him, for me, for our family.”

And of course, so much blue. Chelsea blue. The "Garden of Eden," as they called Stamford Bridge. I saw the image of the Europa League final against Arsenal, when I scored twice, that goal against West Ham… My whole career played out in front of me, like a film.

"Chelsea isn’t just a club to me—it’s home."

Seven years of my life. Two of my kids were born in London. I can’t talk about Chelsea without smiling. I met so many great people there, friends, incredible fans. Even now, when I travel, I see them everywhere.

“That bond we share, it’s thanks to football, but also because we lived special moments together. And let’s be honest, I scored some beautiful goals for them. That helps, right?” (laughs)

The Captain of the Belgian Golden generation

There is blue but there is also  Belgium. I look at this photo of me wearing the captain’s armband, taken after our win against Brazil in the World Cup quarterfinals.

“For a small country like ours, reaching the semifinals was huge. Being the captain of that golden generation was an honor.”

We had an incredible team—players like Kevin, Romelu, Thibaut… Playing for Belgium, especially alongside my brother Thorgan, was a dream.

The Magic of the Number 10

When I think back on all these moments, it’s always the emotions that come first. Like the day I wore the number 10 on my back for the first time. Zidane was my idol, and for me, the number 10 was the ultimate number.

“When Mata left Chelsea, and I got the chance to take the 10, it was like ticking off another little dream. That number represents everything I love about football: creativity, freedom, the show.”

"Goals aren’t just moments—they’re stories."

And then there are the goals—the ones you’ll never forget. My favorite with Chelsea? Maybe the one against Tottenham, during the "Battle of the Bridge."

“It wasn’t just a beautiful goal; it was a special moment. That game had everything. And in the end, Leicester became champions. A great story, isn’t it?”

For Belgium, I’d say my first goal. It wasn’t spectacular, but the emotion was incredible.

“Scoring in front of our fans, wearing that number 10… It felt like I was flying.”

Now, when I look at these photos and these special cards we’ve created, I think: what a journey. Every image, every moment, it tells a piece of my story.

“Football is so much more than trophies. It’s the people you meet, the memories you share, the stories you tell.”

And to everyone who’s followed me—from Lille to Chelsea, from Belgium to Real—I just want to say thank you.

Thank you for the moments.
